Hi and Assalamuaikum everyone!
Today i would like to share with you some lessons i gain from my usrah budi 3. My usrah budi was conducted by sister name kak shafiqah and it was held in Mahallah Sumayyah for every Wednesday in evening. Although usrah budi is a compulsory subject for every student in IIUM, I don't feel like it's a burden as it helps to reduce our stress in our studies.
The first thing that we did before start our session is by reading Al-Mathurat together with other sisters. After that, we will be divided into two groups and will be given few verses from chosen surah. Actually, this activity is for reflecting some verses from Al-Quran. When we were given a few verses from Al-Quran, we have to read it and the meaning and lesson that we can learn from that verse. This is actually good because we gain something new which is most of us did not knew about it. Besides, usually when people reading or reciting Al-Quran, they don't go through deeply the meaning and the wisdom behind the verse. Some of us does not even the understand the story about this surah and verse. Thus, this activity benefit us a lot because we learnt a new lesson every week from reflecting the verses,
Next, after we have done some of reflecting verses in Al-Quran, each of us need to share some story that can be history of islam, value in islam and others. For every session,2- 4 sister out all of us need to share their stories. As for me, I decided to share about Muslim warrior that is Khawlah Al-Azwar. I love to read about muslim warrior because from their story, we can learnt a lot of values and be inspire from their act. Basically, khawlah was prominent woman during the prophet time. She was a muslim arab warrior and the legendary muslimah soldier during her time. She was well known for her leadership in battle of the conquest in parts of what are today. Honestly, i'm glad to be able to share this story in my usrah's class because most of them did not know the story of every 'srikandi islam'. This is why this kind of activity is very good and its beneficial for everyone because we gain new things from every session of the class.
Lastly, we need to memorize some of the verses in the Al-Quran and we need to read it infront of kak shaf. To sum it up, I love usrah budi class although at first i though this class is burdening to all of us. I'm not accustomed with having this usrah class since i'm from daily high school with lot of chinese and indian students. However, i'm so proud and relieve for having the opportunity to experience 'what it feels like to be in usrah'. Thanks to kak shaf for being a good naqibah for us and teach us some valuable stories to be keep as a lesson in life.
