Hello Assalamualaikum everyone!
Currently, I'm doing the E-portfolio for my Usrah Budi's subject. So, today i'm going to tell a story about my contributions toward Islam community.
As everyone knows, my name is Einy Adliana and I'm studying at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and now busy preparing for my final year study. I was born on the 3rd June 1998 which means I am 23 years old now. I got 3 siblings including me, an elder brother and younger sister. My dad already passed away when I was 17 years old so, I only got my mom and my siblings. I'm mostly closed with my sister compared to my brother. Maybe because we are in the same gender so, I think she understands me better than my brother.
Some interest I've got are reading books, watching movies and cooking. I love to read books because it can always be a true friend. They never demand neither do they complain. This is the way I look upon the books. Mostly I read novels and currently, I'm reading a novel called 'Selection. For the favourite movies, I love to watch horror movies such as Lights out, Annebelle, the conjuring and etc. Basically, the list can go on and on and I must be up to date with the latest movies. Next, move on to the cooking where it has been a huge interest of mine. My mom's a great cook, especially in Asian cooking. I think I've got it from her and have learned how to cook, makes a person life much easier.
When we talk about the contribution to the Islam community, I don't really know what I've done for my ummah. From my point of view, Muslim youth have an important role to bring a positive change in society. The youth is a golden period of our life because this is a stage when the person chooses a path and a path may be right or wrong. This is the stage where the youth will have many deviations and distractions like watching porn movies, cigarette, drugs, alcohol etc. At this age, the parents need to play a very important role in guiding their children to choose the right path so that they are successful in this world and the hereafter and should ensure that they do not adopt the wrong path. It is true that every journey begins with a single step, but if our first steps have been taken in the wrong direction, then the complete life will be on the wrong path and coming on the right path will become very difficult. Some youth think that this is the time to enjoy and once they come out of college they will adopt the right track but they do not know that coming back to the right part will become next to impossible.
I would like to share one of my experiences which is volunteering in aboriginal people project which I think it one of the best thing I had done towards the ummah. In this project, the participants involved the IIUM students and it is a one week programme where we have to stay with our foster parents. Basically, we are required to give da'wah, teach and educate them more about Islam. From my observation, most of the villagers still lacking in terms of their basic necessity and their understanding regarding Islam. So what we do is conducting some of the activities such as Al-Quran class, slaughtering, sports and cooking but in every activity, we will include the Islamic element. In my opinion, it is very difficult to educate them in regards to Islam although they already a Muslim. This is because most of the aborigine people have a lot of do and donts from their ancestral teaching. Besides, they are living in seclusion inside the forest in which it is not accessible to everyone as they need to obtain permission from the higher authorities before entering their village. I have to say that I am very proud of myself for joining this programme that helps me to contribute to the Islam community. For some other people, it may be small things but as for me, being able to help people understand about Islam makes me feel happy because I did not waste my youth doing something that is not beneficial.
Basically, the Muslim youth are the future Islamic leaders, so it is very important for the youth to understand Islam in the right perspective by gaining the correct knowledge of Islam from the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah and understand the real purpose of existence on this earth.
The youth is the “make it” or “break it” stage of our life. I pray that Allah (swt) help the Muslim youth and everyone to follow Islam completely and use their time wisely.
